Education
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. I attended Boston University (BU) on a full scholarship as part of the Robert Noyce Scholarship Program. This scholarship seeks to encourage talented STEM majors and professionals to become K-12 mathematics and science teachers. I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics from BU in 2010. After moving to Georgia, I decided to continue my education at Kennesaw State University where I earned my Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Technology.
For years I struggled with keeping my students engaged with the resources that my school provided for me. The books (if we had any) were outdated, the manipulatives had seen better days, and technology for students was non-existent. I then took action into my own hands by creating my own guided notes, practice assignments and activities. During the pandemic, I learned how to create self-checking activities to help my students while they were learning from home. My students are now engaging with the material because it is relevant to their lives.
